The work of the interior life consists therefore in a transformation , that is a the passage from one state to a better state. This we call conversion. In other words, there is a point of departure and a point of destination. We pass from the state of injustice to that of justice. “Give each one his due”, that is the basis for justice.
We therefore intend to study first the state of injustice or sin, then the state of justice or holiness, and finally the means to pass from the former to the latter. Thus first our standing as sinners before God, then our ideal of perfection after which we must strive, then the means of perfecting our souls. We could then add the special rules applying to priests. This study seems to me the most profitable for our spiritual life and for our formation to be apostles.

Unfortunately, only the first and second parts of the intended conferences were actually written out. Nevertheless, the reader is invited to discover various elements of the third part scttered throughout these conferences: Christ is our pattern for justice andd sanctity, therefore He is the only means to pass from sin to holiness.
